bangkok weekend getaway

its been a week since i came back from my weekend OC.. bangkok that was.

first day - arrived BKK airport around 830am. went to baiyoke suite hotel where we stayed. location is impressive, its just across from pratunam, the room was big enough for two but i was dissapointed. its not well lighted and the tivo was in in the living room :( they didnt replenish the shower caps and cotton buds. there were no agencies offering tours..

after settling down and disappointments died down, went to pratunam and bought loads of slacks.its cheap what can i do. for 170thb each but the catch: we can never try it but still that didnt stop me from buying. I bought plenty of bath/milk salt also, just for 17thb each pack.

after that short stop, which we didnt intend to do 'coz we're hungry we continued looking for a place to eat however it seems that luck we're not with us coz we could not find anything. there seems to be no good food near our place. we went to fashion mall across pratunam. but we only found their food center and swensens which served ice cream only on their menu. so, ang ending KFC kame :( after devouring our chicken, we walked again going to the nearest bts station.

with our shopping bags which were quite heavy, we went to chatuchak. it was such a big place i felt that there's not enough time to explore. seeing the roof of the stores from the bts, kakalula na. its also hot and plenty of people and hirap maglakad esp if carrying plastic bags. there, i bought wood bangles, bkk shirts, bags and belts. after 3 hours of walking and carrying heavy items, we decided to go and call it a day in chatuchak.

we took the bts again and go to siam. we went to hard rock cafe just to buy shirts and then had or dinner across. we had pineapple rice. yummy! we took the tuktuk going home however when we realized that its expensive pala nasa hotel na kame. we paid 150thb for the ride which is twice of what we pay if we took the cab.

after resting, off we go to suam lum night bazaar. this place is big also but compared to chatuchak, this is not congested with shoppers. there, we got to buy tops with beads for 100thb. and i bought an extra virgin coconut oil for my hair :P

were there for a few hours too then paguwi namin may night bazaar din outside the hotel, so ikot-ikot pa din kame dun. di naman kame napagod noh? hehe

second day - we went to grand palace and wat po.. then off to the jewelry store where they sell gems and stones cheaper daw. i bought my mom and aunt a mixed-semi precious stones bracelet and an elephant pendant for me. went to the hotel and then go to isetann for my wacoal shopping. they are on sale until the 7th of may. i bought quite a few items in isetann for may nieces too. when we decided to go to gaysor and mbk, its raining naman. hayy.. and since wala naman na kame plan i-buy dun we went home na lang. and looked for sampalok in pratunam but we've been walking for an hour and wala na kame makita. plus, almost all the stores were closed early maybe because of the rain or bec its sunday. when we finally found it, we're so exhausted already. went home, freshen up then go to spa for our oil massage.

we contracted the taxi driver we met going to the jewelry store to drive us to the airport the following day. i had a hard time remembering the exact time of our departure flight so we scheduled it early. back to the hotel, i found out that what we told the driver was an hour late! hayy.. we could

third day - we're up early because we wanted to get light breakfast first before checking out. it was an eat and run thing when we finally check out, its raining cats and dogs! and of course, the taxi is not there. we decided to get a different taxi na lang otherwise we'll be late na talaga. actually, we're almost late na din pala at that time we arrived at the airport.

it was fun experience and bangkok is a shopping haven talaga! maybe its a good thing na ndi ako mahilig sa tiangge if not, baka over the baggage allowance kame hehe

SGGTEB

guess what? guess what? go figure title it is...

it's the SG Girltalkers EB last sunday, April 14 at bro aLon and poisonivyflirty's place. actually, its our 2nd EB but this time we missed sis ladybird.. oh dba? im still calling them with their nicks, my reason, i still want them to feel anonymous now that im talking abt them here in my blog.

this time, we met nancy_drew, allets and thefrog. attendance included: me, mami violy and family, 23and14, who else?

what did we do? we ate and talked and ate and talked. there were plenty of foods: lumpiang shanghai and bicol express c/o aLon and his wifey poisonivy, spaghetti and leche flan c/o mami violy. nancy_drew brought fruits salad, allets and hubby drinks and chips. some more drinks and chips from thefrog. me, i cooked prawns and asked a friend to bake macaroons hehe

it was a night to remember and somehow we got to see the faces behind the nicks :P

singles for christmas

as i mentioned previously, almost all of my friends stayed for christmas here in SG. i prepared noche buena and invited them all. friends from work, from previous work, friends of friend. we we're stucked with each other from dinner of 24th to xmas lunch.

me and my housemate prepared caldereta, kare-kare, pansit and macaroons. friends brought palitaw, cake and shepherd's pie. it was a festive moment with lots of food. and a time to reflect with the birth of our Lord, the true essence of the day. coincidentally, we also reflected on our singleness status. all of us except one are single, and i thought, wala ba kong friend na guy? waah!

someone said, even if we have a guy visitor sa dami naming girls baka tumakbo palayo ang guy hehe actually, i did invite a few pero nakatunog ata kaya ndi na dumating hehe

what happened between now and then?

after i got back from krabi, life has been quite busy here. i never even had a chance to admire the sunshine and smell the flowers, figuratively speaking. i was working 14/7 didnt have much time to do my christmas shopping but i got by. well, if it's shopping i will find the time hehe

so, what happened in those days that i was in hiatus. i burned my eyebrows working until the wee hours. never mind if it was weekends. we were on call during weekends so i had no choice. either i work or work double time during the weekdays. despite the seemingly complicated work schedule, i tried to squeeze in some time for socializing of course! but the least i could do was have a late night supper or watched a late night movie *sigh *sigh

not to forget my left eye which seems to have a heart beat of its own. im serious! really! for a wk, i was worried that my left eye was getting blind. i guessed it was just too much stress and lack of sleep.

the christmas shopping i used to do few weeks before christmas, i did one wkend before christmas. all in one go or i'll miss the opportunity to shop. i sent out my christmas cards, a few days before christmas.

i also have a lot of backlogs: movies unwatched, books unread, stuffs to write and catch up on my sleep. btw, im writing this in the office when supposed to be im on leave. pathetic noh? :(

locked out

for the second time in two years and 3 houses, i was locked out of my room.. waah!

the first time, i was living in simei. i went out of my room to check my laundry. when i came back, the room was locked and i have no spare key.. it took me an hour and 70sgd to have it opened..

last night, i went out of my room to do my laundry. when i came back, lo and behold... the room was locked. fortunately, i got a spare key. unfortunately, its not with me hehe but at least i have one. it took me a few minutes and lakas ng loob to disturb my friend to get my spare key.

now, i learned my lesson... never do my laundry!! disposable clothes na lang hehe

my little christmas tree

yehey! finally! at last! we have christmas decors... pasko na talaga! i can feel the christmas spirit at home and along orchard hehe (dun lang kase maraming christmas decors)... unlike in the philippines na everywhere you look, you will feel that christmas is really just days away.. may countdown pa nga everyday sa tv and in radio.. dito, wala! hayy..

last weekend, my housemates and i went scouting for the cheapest christmas decors we can find. we ended in paya lebar where we found different sizes and colors of christmas trees ranging from 6 for a very little tree to a 180sgd for a revolving (tama ba yun? basta ung umiikot hehe) white christmas tree.

we went home satisfied with our treasures: a 4 ft christmas tree, red and golden balls, stars, 6 poinsettias and belen. my housemate's mom came from the philippines and she brought us: christmas lights, socks and glittery christmas banner. we're ready for the holidays... except for the christmas presents!!!

our belen...

our little christmas tree...

DnD

last friday night, my employer sponsored a dinner and dance for all its contracts at the orchard hotel. the dinner and dance turned out to be a drink and dance party.. oops. i only had three glasses of coke ha.

however, after the party we went to MOS (ministry of sound) and i had a few drinks of vodka orange and some dancing. we stayed on the retro room for quite a while and groove to the music. it was past 2am when we decided to get out of that smoky place hehe

we headed to the coffee club and had a mug of mochaccino and had some usapang lasing haha we interviewed the guys who were with us however we could not get anything from them, corny kaya we decided to get home na lang...
